Objectives:After successful attendence at this module, the students have a knowledge of different applications of optical sensors, their beam guidance and light sources. On the basis of scientific principles and theories, students are able to describe fundamental characteristics and instrumentation functions of passive and active optical sensors. Students will be able to adapt optical sensors in the fields of analytics, medical technology, environmental/marine observation as well production, automation and process measurement technology. In addition, students are introduced to digital tools for digital technology development within a strong application focus. Related problems can be described and students are able to develop, present and implement solutions.
Course contents:- Fundamentals of passive and active optical sensors
- Multispectral, spatial- and temporal-resolving optical sensors and quantitative-qualitative measuring techniques.
- Application of optical sensors in selected areas of analytics, medical technologies, environmental and marine monitoring, production, automatisation and process measurement.
- Engineering tools for design, construction and simulation of optical sensors serving as sensor sytem (CAD / Matlab / NI - Labview).
- Teamwork.
