Objectives:The students get a sound knowledge of production, maintenance, repair and over-haul of aircraft engines. This includes production processes in combination with the special materials as well as production systematic aspects. These aspects arise on the one hand from the complex load in an engine and from the entire product life cycle.
Through the course, the students have a broad overview of special production pro-cesses, materials and production-systematic aspects. This applies to the production as well as to the repair of aircraft engines. Moreover, aspects of airworthiness, approval of materials and production processes are included in the lecture.
Course contents:Principle of an aircraft engine
Manufacturing processes: specialized welding technologies, additive manufacturing, thermal spraying, aluminizing, laser drilling, stripping processes and others
Materials: aluminum, titanium, superalloys, ceramic metal composites, ceramic materials and others
Special features of production: development, airworthiness, repair, dealing with damages and others
The course is enhanced by the latest trends in recent developments and the analy-sis of damages. Moreover, all contents are orientated on the production or repair-ing of components of an aircraft engine. A practical reference will always be maintained.
