Modul: marine chemistry

Modul no. :n/a
ECTS credits:5
Expenditure of time:54h contact time + 96h self study
Modul type:compulsory module
Duration:1 semester
Supervisor:Prof. Dr. rer. nat. I. Feige
Objectives:The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledges of the chemical properties of the most important classes of chemical compounds in inorganic chemistry (acids, bases, salts metals, nonmetals) and in organic chemistry (hydrocarbons, alcohols, alkyl halides). At the end of the course they can evaluated the impact of such substances on technology and environment, and they are able to discuss about this with experts.
Contents:This modul starts with atom models, peridic system, chemical bonds and properties of salts, acids, bases, metals, nonmetals. Next part are properties of organic compounds like hydrocarbons, alcohols, alkyl halides, and also systematics in name and classifying of organic compounds, functional groups and class of organic compounds and typical reactions of selected classes of organic compounds.
Applicability:Compulsory module for this course of studies and an elective module for other study paths.
Teaching methods:Lecture, exersises
Individual courses:chemical basics in semester 2
chemical basics lab in semester 2
