Objectives:After successful completion of the module, the students have knowledge in fundamentals of communications engineering, which are necessary for the processing of sensor signals. They are able to describe various sensors for the measurement of physical quantities with reference to the marine industry and to define basic terms and procedures for state diagnostics of machines and systems with regard to on- and offshore technology.
The form of the lab course, in which the intensive and autonomous group work requires that the students deal with different communication and working styles in their groups, brings more interdisciplinary content with it. Accordingly, the students are able to independently apply the basics of classical project management, such as team organization, task planning and division of labor. In this way, they have trained social skills such as teamwork, criticism and communication skills. Furthermore, they have the competence to find solutions to problems and to select the right methods, to conduct research and independent acquisition of knowledge as well as to present and comprehensively document work results.
Contents:Basics of communications engineering and signal processing (sampling, frequency analysis, systems), sensors for measuring physical quantities, methods for signal evaluation, condition diagnostics of machines and plants
Applicability:Mandatory module for this study course and elective mandatory module for other bachelor courses.
