Requirements:The successful participation in the modules electrical engineering 1 and 2 and technical physics is recommended.
Objectives:The students can describe different application areas for micro technologies in medical engineering. They can name examples e.g. for diagnostics, material science, minimal invasive surgery, medical systems and medical sensors. They can describe application differences between classical methods and micro technological attempts and can justify the application conditions by physical and technological reasons.
Contents:In this module the basic knowledge of micro technological methods in medical engineering and the physical and technological conditions are discussed. In the following examples of use the knowledge is deepened: diagnostics (e.g. lab on a chip), material science (e.g. surface modification), minimal invasive surgery (e.g. microstructured tools), medical devices (e.g. implantable dosing pumps), medical sensors (e.g. strain sensors for prostheses).
Applicability:Compulsory module in this course of studies and elective module in other courses of studies.
