Objectives:For the production of defined components the optimal material and manufacturing technique should be selected and connected with the fitting design principles to optimize manufacturing.

The course gives an into basics of creating engineering drawings and the common standards, e.g. set of drawings, title block and list of parts, projections, sectional views, threads, dimensioning, incl. tolerances, surfaces, deviation of form and position. During practical exercises these tasks and representative basic geometrical constructions are trained.

Contents:Basic knowledge of composition, production, properties and application of metals, polymers, ceramics, glasses, composites; test methods for materials and components; recycling; material selection.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes primary shaping, forming and cutting of metals, polymers, ceramics, glasses, composites; design guidelines.

Basics of creating engineering drawings and the common standards, e.g. set of drawings, title block and list of parts, projections, sectional views, threads, dimensioning, incl. tolerances, surfaces, deviation of form and position; representative basic geometrical constructions.

Applicability:Compulsory module for this course of studies and an elective module for other study paths.
