# Modul: technical physics

Modul no. : n/a ECTS credits: 5 Expenditure of time: 54h contact time + 96h self study Modul type: compulsory module Duration: 1 semester Supervisor: Prof. Dr. C. Thoma Requirements: none Objectives: After successful completion of the module, the students are able to apply the basic physical knowledge in kinetics and dynamics in practical exercises and in physical experiments. They have an understanding of the physical conservation parameters in mechanics, thermodynamics and kinetic gas theory (general gas constant Dulog-Petit). They understand the relationship to the atomic structure of matter (equi-distribution theorem) and can describe thermodynamic processes and identify rotational quantities. Contents: Outline basic quantities, the physical quantities, basic quantities of the International System of Measurement, Kinematic Movements, Uniformly Linear Motion, Uniformly Accelerated Motion, Free Fall, Force (in the international measurement system), Newtons Axioms, the effect of forces (addition, decomposition), Superimposed movements, the inclined plane, the crooked litter: parabola, work and energy, lifting and acceleration work, the mechanics of energy, frictional work, momentum, momentum, elastic shock, elastic forces and vibrations, Hookes law, spring-mass System, Elastic Energy & Interpretation, Math. Pendulum, Heat Theory, Absolute Temperature, Thermal Linear Expansion, Volume Expansion of Gases, General Gas Law, Thermodynamics, Heat Energy, Heat Capacity of Metals / Gases, Equal Distribution Theorem, Statistical Theory of Gases, Thermodynamic Processes, Dynamics of Rotation , Uniform rotation of rigid bodies, rotational energy and moment of inertia, center of gravity of rigid bodies, uniformly accelerated rotation, angular momentum Applicability: Compulsory module for this course of studies and an elective module for other study paths. Teaching methods: lecture and laboratory Further information: Pitka, u.a.: Physik; Der Grundkurs (Verlag Harri Deutsch) Hering, Martin, Stohrer: Physik für Ingenieure (VDI-Verlag) Kuypers: Physik für Ingenieure (VCH-Verlagsges.mbH) Lindner: Physik für Ingenieure (Carl Hanser Verlag) Individual courses: technical physics in semester 1
