Objectives:After successful participation on the module, the students will gain the basic
knowledge about vision based robotic systems. Although focused on robotics, the
knowledge gained in lectures concerning digital image processing, camera technologies
and stereo vision students can apply in a variety of different engineering
fields such as vision based motion analysis in medicine, car driver assistance systems
etc.
Course contents:Cameras represent one of the most important sensor technologies of the currently
available robotic systems. The proposed module focuses on the specific (advanced)
aspects of robotics utilizing the cameras for the robot control known as Visual Robot
Control and treats related topics such as basics of digital image processing including
software tools (e.g. Matlab Image Processing Toolbox, Open CV), camera
technologies (Stereo-Vision, 3D-sensorics), camera to robot calibration, vision
based control (look-and-move, Visual Servoing). Finally, the application of vision
based robot control for different application scenarios is discussed.
In order to improve the topic understanding, the numerical exercises are combined
to practical exercises performed with software tools such as Matlab and open CV.
