Exam requirements:Basic knowledge about different maritime guidance systems, their characeristics, function, application and relevance. Knowledge base about global position determination.

Knowledge about different load generating
influences upon offshore constructions, their superposition and calculation. Knowledge about methods of design for ocean engineering applications. Basic knowledge about foundations and building materials for offshore constructions.
Objectives:Introduction into maritime guidance systems, their characeristics, function and practical application.

Gain in basic knowledge about different environmental conditions upon offshore
constructions i.e. waves (wave theorie), water level variations, currents, wind, ice and their calculations. Introduction into ocean engineering design methods and the foundation of maritime constructions. Gain in knowledge about different designs and constructions of offshore installations.
Course contents:Basical aquisition about different maritime guidance systems, their function, strength and weaknesses as well as their preferred areas of application. Combination of different guidance systems and the identification of their redundancy and limits. Perspectives regarding subsea guidance systems.

Introduction into offshore engineering and sources
of information for applications supported by
examples based on calculations and practical
experience. Final excursion. Topics: environmental
conditions and determination of relevant loads.
Introduction into ocean engineering design methods, foundation of offshore constructions, offshore installations for the oil and gas industry, constructions in arctic conditions, offshore building materials.
