Exam requirements:Comprehension of global ecosystems and knowledge about technologies and applications of renewable energies.
Objectives:The lecture starts with an overview of environmental problems due to fossil energy production and provides an overview of current and future energy systems. Different renewable energy systems and their technologies are explained with the focus given on solar and wind energy production.
After successful completion of the course, the students will be able to reflect current environmental issues. They will have detailed knowledge of different renewable energy generators.
Course contents:Impact of CO2 and air pollutants, setup and functioning of solarthermal and photovoltaic systems; Setup and functioning of Wind Energy Converters; Principles of hydropower generation, power generation from biomass and geothermal energy.
