Exam requirements:In-depth knowledge of the operating behavior of DC machines with their control by power electronic actuators. Qualified knowledge of the structure, functionality and operating behavior of asynchronous machines and electronically commutated machines.
Objectives:After successful participation in the module, the students have knowledge of the structure, the mode of action and the operating behavior of electrical machines (direct current machine, asynchronous machine and electronically commutated machine) and their control. The learned knowledge is deepened by practical work in the laboratory.
Course contents:The subject Fundamentals of Electrical Machines covers the physical fundamentals of electrical machines. In the lecture, the DC machine will be treated with structure, mode of action, design features, air gap fields, armature reaction, induced voltage, torque, power, main equations, operating behavior, speed control in the armature and field control range, starting, braking and power converter feeding.
The asynchronous machine, the rotation field formation, characteristics (slip), structure and mode of operation, operating behavior (M = f (n)), power balance, possibilities of speed control, starting and braking, frequency converter fed asynchronous machine explained. Finally, electronically commutated machines (servomotor) with structure, mode of operation, and performance
and possibilities of speed control mediated.
