Exam requirements:The Student should get a general idea and knowledge of fundamental principles of welding technology;
Objectives:The students should get a general idea of the fundamental principles of welding technology; knowledge of welding; provide knowledge to students about conventional welding processes and a general idea of special welding processes; Knowledge of behaviour of metal transfer processes under welded conditions and the welded materials;

In combination with other courses the student can acquire the qualification as Welding Engineer Part 1;
Course contents:Welding procedures; Theoretical and process technological basic principles, application, basic principles of arc-welding; Oxy-gas welding, manual-arc welding, tungsten-inert gas welding, MIG/MAG welding, plasma welding, resistance welding, submerged-arc welding Physical and process technological basic principles and applications of special welding processes, for example electron beam welding, laser welding, friction welding; Fundamental principles of the welding process: physics and type of arc, arc dynamics, arc character, welding arc characteristic, metal transfer behaviour, metallurgical model, welding parameters, metallography of welding and material, parameters of welded structures: weldability; solidification of the welding bath, thermal study of welding process, changes in microstructure and properties in the weld metal and heat-effected zone; Weld defects: types, causes and prevention;
