Objectives:The students know the different forms of energy and the possibilities of energy conversion, the available energy sources and resources, techniques to use the exhaustible and renewable energy sources, technologies for storage and for transport of energy as well as concepts for a full supply from renewable energy sources.
Course contents:This module first deals with the different forms of energy and the technologies of energy conversion. Then the earth energy balance is discussed and an overview about the available energy sources and resources is given. Different technologies to use the exhaustible and renewable energy sources are covered in detail. In the further course of the lecture the possibilities for supply from renewable sources are addressed. Technologies for energy storage and for transport of energy are described and compared to each other. Finally, different concepts for a full supply from renewable energy sources are presented.
