Objectives:The students know the typical electrical components in the automobile, the possibilities to realize an electrical energy supply and distribution, the characteristics of different fuels, energy storage systems and fuel cells as well as automobile concepts with combustion engine, electrical and hybrid drive.
Course contents:First this module gives an overview of electronic components in the automobile. The electrical capacity of these components and the development of the resulting electrical system power are described. In the further process of the module, possible electrical system architectures in the automobile are described. The power electronic components for electrical system and distribution are also part of the module contents. In the following different forms of energy and fuels for the drive are specified and evaluated. Technologies for energy conversion and energy storage are presented. The module also includes concepts for future vehicle drives.
