Exam requirements:Basic knowledge of rotating field machines. In-depth knowledge of design, functioning, operational performance and control of asynchronous and synchronous machines.
Objectives:Basic understanding of electrical energy transducers. Design and characteristics of three-phase transformers. Energy generation with synchronous machines and asynchronous machines.
Course contents:Transformer: General/design and functioning, theory, operational performance, neutral/short circuit/load, determination of efficiency/types of losses, three-phase trans-ormers, vector groups, parallel connection, asymmetrical load autotransformer. Asynchronous machine: voltage equations, design and evaluation of circle diagram, asynchronous generators (isolated and mains operation). Synchronous machine: design and functioning, operational performance at neutral/load/short circuit, control of synchronous machine (isolated and mains operation), phase-shifting operation, V curves and regulation curves
