Objectives:After completing the module, participants will be able to design DB models, translate and implement entity relationship models into relational DB designs and reliable handle the fundamental SQL language. Participants have basic knowledge in dealing with a server-based RDBMS.
Course contents:The module Databases conveys basic competence in the field of database technology. The lecture first introduces the tasks and the architecture of database systems as well as the conceptual data modeling (entity-relationship model). It covers the basics of the relational data model and the transformation of the conceptual model into the relation model. The database language SQL is fundamentally introduced.
