Exam requirements:Detailed knowledge about terms, definitions and tasks in the field of automation, about design of combinatorial and sequential control, about functions and structures of programmable logic controller (PLC). Detailed knowledge of programming of controls on PLCs using subroutines and realisation of realtime requirements. Basic knowledge about hardware and process interfaces of PLCs.

Objectives:Ability to design combinatorial and sequential controls with the corresponding realtime requirements and their implementation and realization on a programmable logic controller (PLC).
Course contents:Terms, definitions and tasks in the field of automation; design of combinatorial and sequential controls; structure and functions of PLCs; design of programs for PLCs; programming languages for PLCs according to standard IEC 1131-3, especially S7-AWL" (instruction list); techniques for using subroutines and different kinds of adressing; all kinds of scheduling realtime programs and process interfaces of PLCs.
